Project Description:

The Village is seeking to expand treatment services for adolescent girls, ages 11-17, who have co-occurring disorders (substance abuse and mental health). Girls spend up to 6 months in residential treatment at The Village where they receive drug treatment, psychiatric services, family reunification, vocational and academic training.  The University of Miami is a collaborator with this project, working with The Village in the National Institute on Drugs Abuse Clinical Trails Network. Research that comes from the Clinical Trials will add valuable information regarding "best practices" treatment and allow policy makers to administer more efficient and effective services.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

805 of girls who complete treatment will remain in school or be employed at 6 months post treatment, 75% of girls who complete treatment will not become involved (or recidibate) in the Juvenile Justice System; 99% of girls who complete treatment will not become pregnant 1 year post treatment; 80% of girls who complete treatement will be reunited with their families or foster care placement at 1 year post treatment.
