Project Description:

The Lake County Public Schools (LCPS), desires to purchase hardware and educational software to use as an important tool to improve student performance in the areas of reading and math, and in FCAT scoring in six high schools pr the state's A-Plus plan.

LCPS intends to deploy six computer education labs at six high schools to provide individualized supplemental instruction to those students at risk for failing the Exit Level FCAT Exam.  To ensure that this pilot is effectively implemented and properly utilized, teachers at each school will be trained in the utilization of diagnostic assessment, individualized instruction, scheduling and monitoring to achieve improvement goals.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

For the Six High Schools

Sixty percent of high school students who are assessed as being below their proper grade level in reading shall show a one-grade level improvement for every two semesters of participating in the pilot program.

Sixty percent of high school students who are assessed as being below their proper grade level in math shall show a one-grade level improvement for every three semesters of participating in the pilot program

Sixty-seven percent (four of six) of high schools participating in the pilot shall show improvement fromtheir previous A-Plus Plan grade/score.

Sixty-seven percent (four of six) of high schools participating in the pilot shall show improvement from their previous FCAT reading and math passing rates.

All outcomes assume a minimum of one hour of time on task in the program per curriculum per week or 20 hours per semester.
