Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This request is to provide Miami-Dade County with a consortium approach to training staff who serve publicly funded clientele in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health field,  The initiative will provide badly needed, science based skill an knowledge to staff who through professionally trained, do not have the resources to receive specialized training that could dramatically improve the outcome of treatment, and therefore reduce the revolving door of substance abuse and mental health recipients.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

500 substance abuse professionals and para-professionals will be trained during the 12 month period. For 8 of the trainings, teaching time will be donated by specialist from different agencies within Miami-Dade County (open to all publicly funded agencies); and for the other 4 trainings, specialists will be brought in to teach 1)Engagement of Substance Abusing Moms into Treatment Services 2)Structure of Treatment-getting Cost Effective Treatment 3)Relapse Prevention 4)Continuing Care in the Community to increase Treatment Effectiveness
