Creation of a Task Force to look into viability of creating a pilot program that will link a cargo handling system between the Port of Miami, Port Everglades and the Port of Palm Beach using innovative rail technology (RailRunner, RoadRunner and Iron Highway). This technology allows for trailers to be removed from the highway system and placed directly on an innovative rail system. Partnerships have been developled between the Port of Palm Beach and the FEC Rail Line to guarantee that at least 100 trucks daily will be transported using this method. Utilizing this new technology will result in a more efficient and cost effective way of transporting goods between the Ports while relieving congestion on our state highway system. |
