Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Respond to the scene of residential fires and other singel family disasters around the clock, 365 days a year, assessing damage and providing comprehensive case management through Red Cross Disaster Action Teams.  Provide shelter space for evacuees of a potential or actual large-scale disaster.  The potential disasters in the local area requiring large scale sheltering could be, but are not limited to , multi-unit fires.  Hazardous Material incidents, and tropical weather events such as hurricanes.   Provide disaster mitigation (reducing the loss of life and property from disasters) by promoting long0term community preparedness through disaster education ranging from pamphlets to workshops, presentations and media events.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

provide immeidate short-term assistance for essential life-sustaining needs by providing vouchers for emergency food, clothing, and shelter, provide assistance to 100% of clients based on above needs.  Refer clients to other gencies most appropriate for assisting with unmet emergency needs.  Increase the number of trained shelter management staff from 20 to 400, by increasing the functional capabilities of 50 existing shelter staff, and increasing the number of shelters form 46 to 60.
