Project Description:
Repairs and remodel to Casa Nueva Vida's rear building which was set on fire by homeless persons who started a cooking fire while the main facility was being remodeled last year. This was not covered by insurance. Because the cost of repairs and that of previous remodeling will exceed 25% of the value of the building, the facility being repaired must be brought up to code, thus increasing the cost. Dry wall, ceiling, plumbing, electricity, air conditioning, etc. must be done in accordance with post hurricane codes. This program will allow for program expansion for the residents of Casa Nueva Vida, a Level II Residential Treatment Facility for monolingual Hispanics addicted to alcohol and/or drugs or are dully diagnosed. For lack of space, psychoeducational activities have had to be restricted.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Days in the community will increase. Sobriety will be diagnosed at a check point of 6 months.
