Project Description:
National Parkinson outreach centers where people with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers can go for diagnostic services, specialized treatment and Respite care.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Our centers have seen and treated 130 patients and have had an impact on approx. 26,000 people ( caregivers, family friends of people with Parkinson's). Approx. 10% of people with Parkinson's end up in state funded nursing homes but within our program, we have a rate of approx. 2%, saving the state hundreds of thousands of dollars. Respite services and outreach program on Florida's west coast are lacking and with additional funding we could reach these people.
