8Students who are absent from school for five days within a calendar month will be picked up by Fort Myers Police Truancy Officers and transported to a classroom designed exclusively for this project. Upon arrival, parents will be notified that the child was absent from school without an excuse and is at the school. Housed in this classroom will be a supervisory truancy officer, a teacher, a teacher's assistant and an artist. This ten-day program will incorporate life skills, remedial education, counseling and arts in education as a comprehensive solution to preventing and reducing truancy. |
