Project Description:

The East Miramar Master Drainage Study, Phase I and II, will be a comprehensive engineering investigation of existing conditions and alternatives for solving drainage and flooding problems within Miramar's eastern neighborhoods.  Phase I will study the neighborhoods bounded on the north by Pembroke Road, on the east by State Road 7, on the south by County Line Road, and on the west by Florida's Turnpike.

Phase II will study the neighborhoods bounded on the north by Pembroke Road, on the east by Florida's Turnpike, on the south by County Line Road, and on the west by University Drive.  These neighborhoods have experienced repeated flooding following heavy rains and hurricanes.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

By upgrading the drainage systems within these neighborhoods, the City will mitigate the destructive impacts of severe flooding.

The purpose of the project is to provide the following incremental level of service goals:

1.  Maintain a minimum stormwater drainage system to prevent street flooding during the 3 year,24 hour storm event, with a desirable target of protecting against the 5 year, 24 hour storm event.

2.  Prevent standing water from exceeding the top of the road (crown) elevation during a 10 year, 24 hour storm event.

3.  Prevent flooding of finished floor elevations during the 100 year, 72 hour storm event.
