Project Description: |

One of the prominent recreational features of Lake County are the many lakes that are connected through navigable channels that allow boaters to move through the chain of lakes from south Lake County to the Ocklawaha River and ultimately to the Atlantic Ocean. These Regionally significant features require periodic maintenance dredging to remove accumulated sand and other sediments which have begun to limit the navigability of these two chains of lakes. With the present low water conditions, doing the maintenance dredging becomes more efficient and cost effective. By partnering with the State, the Lake County Water Authority can accomplish this maintenance dredging sooner and more cost effectively than having to accomplish the same tasks under higher water conditions and over a longer period of time. |
