Project Description:
Family Connection is a prevention/intervention program for teens that are exhibiting escalating aggressive behavior in the home, school, or community. The teen's entire family is involved in the program strategy, which focuses on family life skills, emphasizing anger management, school success, and substance abuse education. Family Connection will serve the families of 90 youth, inclusive of all siblings, in a 12 month period. The targeted youth will be between the ages of 10-17 and will be exhibiting escalating aggressive behavior in the home, school, or community. Each family will recieve: 8 individial family counseling session; 8 weekly multi-family pshycho-social educational group session; and bi-monthly staff contact with school staff to assess the youth's academic and conduct progress at school.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Outcome measures include: decreased discipline referrals; improvement in school conduct and grades; decrease in aggression at home and community; no offenses/arrests at six months and 12 months after completion of program; and families report overall satisfaction with program.
