Project Description:
This project would allow ARC of St. Johns County to construct a special needs shelter on their site to serve their clients and other special needs patients during a hurricane evacuation. During the rest of the year, the facility would serve as a cafeteria for the ARC of St. Johns, freeing up the old cafeteria for more training programs. Further, this site is located very near I-95 on one of the main East/West evacuation routes in St. Johns County, providng a very accessable location for evacuation.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
This facility will do two things. First, it will significantly decrease the average evacuation time for a special needs patient in St. Johns County. Secondly, it will open up more space for programs at the Association for Retarded Citizens in St. Johns County
