Project Description:
Construct a 25,000 square foot building to facilitate educational learning. The facility will house an innovative juvenile justice & education demonstration program. The building will serve as a courtroom for the 7th Judical Circuit's minor offense cases, a home for Port Orange's Police Athletic League (PAL), and a in-school suspension facility and classroom space for the Volusia County School System and Atlantic High's Academy of Law & Government. This unique partnership between the City of Port Orange, Volusia County Schools, the local juvenile justice system, and the State will provide creative and innovative approaches to education, in-school suspension, and classroom discipline. The program will also promote activities such as PAL which can assist in the prevention of juvenile crime in the community.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Reduced juvenille crime, greater edcuation experinces for Atlantic High Academy of Law & Government students and county residents, and an additional space for the Seventh Judical Circuit proceedings.
