Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Develop family preservation and support program for parents involved in the criminal justice system and their children.  Specific target population are parents being released from correction facilities and reuniting with their children.  Funds will not have to be spent to maintain children in foster care, prevent school drop out and juvenile delinquency.  Adult prison recidivism decreased.  Parents upon discharge from the jails or prisons will receive family intervention services.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Prevent children and adolescents of parents involved in Criminal Justice System from becoming involved in the Criminal Justice System; prevent parents involved with criminal justice system with skills to effectively assume parenting responsibilities for their children who are in State Custody or funded by the state; provide family intervention services which would include counseling to children, adolescent and their caretakers, provide parenting education to inmates and/or individuals court ordered into diversionary programs, facilitate a plan of reintegration into the family on parenting role for inmates being discharged, linking children and family members including caretakers with community resources to gain and maintain mastery of basic academic skills and to facilitate their life away from crime.
