Project Description:
Emergency Pine Beetle Suppression Program is to assist landowners in the suppression of the Southern Pine Beetle from Actively infested trees. 4,500 acres have already been destroyed and 12,000 identified which are actively infested.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Division of Forestry anticipates another season of increased Pine Beetle activity. Due to the recent drought conditions have caused prolonged stress and excessive damage to the pines. The destruction and loss of pine trees creates an immediate and imminent threat to property and lives, there by creating a danger to the public health, welfare and safety of the community and epidemic spreading to the state.
