Project Description:
The CLASS Program is an alternative to suspension with four middle schools participating. Housed in the Daytona Beach Police Athletic League Community Outreach Center and operated in conjunction with Act Corp. (a Volusia County mental health agency) and area law enforcement agencies, CLASS is designed to expand a student's self esteem, increase interpersonal communications skills, and teach effective behavior skills.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
1. To reduce the number of out of school suspension days at identified schools. 2. To improve the academic performance of CLASS students. 3. To actively involve more parents/guardians with identified schools in promoting students' success and achievement. 4. To involve all community agencies in working collaboratively to reduce secondary students' involvement with the juvenile justice system.
