Project Description:

All About Crime is a two-part intervention and crime prevention project, Part 1 involves a series of workshops where CFCA artists use their original, nationally acclaimed model program "Telling Stories Through Visuals."  This program was selected by the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanties as one of eight national model programs that successfully combines art with social services to improve people's lives.  This program takes participants who have had little or no prior artistic experience through a process in which they relate how crime affects their lives, write a story describing their feelings and experiences, and illustrate their narratives with pictures.  The stories and artwork then becomes part of a movable mural.  Part 2 involves a series of mural exhibitions that are used to educate the public about crime-related issues to stimulate dialogue and generate positive change within the community.  For more information, go to the website at www.artmurals.org.
