Project Description:
Provide capital and oeprating expesne for a pilot aquaculture cooperative project in an inner city area for hte uprpose of starting an aquatic processing center and raising aquatic plants and animals for food and ornamental plants that are all to be sold as part of a small buseiness. The Collier City/Pompano Beach Community Development Coerpoation willb e responsible for operating the aquaculture and hydroponics complex. This project will focus initially on the creation of a fish processing facility and spinoff businesses in product sales and shipping.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The following short-term and long-term benefits are anticipated; 1) infusion of new techical employment, 2) job training and employment opportunties, 3) fresh fish and vegetables, 4) spinoff businesses in product sales and shipping, 5) environmental protection and restoration, 6) revitalization monies through success and publicity, and 7) positive national impacts to the science of sustainable, environmentally compatible aquaculture.
