Project Description:
Jeppesen VisionQuest (JVQ) is a public (501c3)not for profit organization, that provides free follow up vision exams and quality new glasses for economically disadvantaged youth who have failed school based vision screenings. Students are referred through the Public School System and the Department of Health.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Nearly 70% of children receiving corrective eyewear improved in academic performance, exhibited increased self esteem and generally appeared to be happier and healthier individuals. JVQ teacher surveys documented the following regarding children served: 42% improved in math; 48% improved in reading; 62% improved in overall GPA of at least .3 on a 4.0 scale, and 60% of children with a history of behavior problems demonstrated reductions in discipline referrals.
