Project Description:

Provides assistance to community and faith based organizations as they expand their role and effectiveness in helping under-served youth in distressed urban areas, by bridging the "digital divide" in the state.  The disparity in access to rapidly changing and commercially significant techologies has a negative impact on the educational, workforce development and employment competitiveness of the needy youths, and thereby impedes the economic development of the distressed urban communities in which these youth reside.  Faith-based institutions and community organizations are seen as the direct link to enabling young people to frequent information technologies and thus, bridge the digital divide.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Will assist distressed urban communities in securing computers for access and internet services by you between the ages of 5-18 who reside in these communities.  The project will succeed in assisting these distressed communities in bridging the "digital divide", the gap between those who have access to computers and Internet technology and those who do not.
