Project Description:
Designated trauma centers are required to meet numerous standards and to provide the necessary resources to deliver comprehensive trauma services. Lee Memorial Health System's emergency room is designated as a trauma center. The Lee Memorial Hospital Trauma Center is a valuable community asset that is under great economic pressure. It is under-funded by nearly $2 million. This past year, Lee Memorial Health Systems utilized the state's non-recurring $100,000 funding to offset certain capital expenditures and to assist in expanding community trauma prevention education, a requirement of our designation. This funding can also be used to supplement continuing education expenses for maintaining clinical certifications and required continuing education hours.
