Project Description:
The Miami-Dade County Child Care Executive Partnership (CCEP), established in 1997, was intended to increase the availability of child care for working poor families. This funding request would enable the CCEP to expand service capability to assist more of those in need, and therefore generate community support and assistance. Through CCEP, Miami-Dade County has utilized state and federal funds as incentives to attract local funds derived from governments, employers, charitable foundations and other sources, in order to formulate a public/private partnership for the benefit of low income, working families in need of child care.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
An increase in funding for the CCEP would enable the expansion of child care assistance to low income and working poor families. This program provides state match on a dollar for dollar basis to businesses investing in child-care programs for their employees. Current funding of $10 million statewide is not sufficient to provide the state's share of matching funds for private sector and local government entities offering to participate in the program and provide their employees with much-needed child care services.
