Project Description:

This project involves the adjacent land surrounding the relocation and widening of U.S. 1 to enable the City of Riviera Beach Redevelopment Agency to achieve maximum development and economic potential from the adjacent properties.  This will allow the City to expand it?s current ?Working Waterfront? of marine industry, boatyards and marine commercial areas to provide greatly expanded employment and training opportunities in high skilled jobs that are required of the private developers by the Redevelopment policies.  In addition, the project creates attractive development sites for over 750 new mixed-income homes (through private investment), which will provide new market rate housing as well as relocation resources for the Plan.  The qualified businesses to be displaced by the Plan will be relocated in new facilities made available within the CRA area.  This project is the catalyst element that is essential to the City?s CRA master plan.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Systematic elimination of the slum, blight, and crime influences; measurable increase in employment; creating and registration of new business licenses; increased business volume for the existing businesses; increase in the housing stock of the City of Riviera Beach; the relocation of the residents of the City displaced by the project into decent, safe and sound housing within their means, and which improves their quality of life; the development of a pedestrian, bike, and transit based system linking the community and reducing the dependence on local automobile trips; and the demonstrateable restoration among the residents of the City of a sense of pride and place.
