The St. Johns County Council on Aging is seeking to renovate the former St. Johns County Health Department facility in downtown St. Augustine. The facility would allow the St. Johns County Council on Aging to renovate the well-located facility into a multi-purpose, multiservice senior center, complete with a dining facility, recreational areas, and support areas for the Council on Aging's nutrition programs, meals, housekeeping and personal care services. St. Johns County was the first "elder ready" designated community and this project supports the Governor's commitment to "age in place" initiatives. Further, the new facility is right across the street from one of the area's largest nursing home facilities, providing for some unique partnerships. |
