Project Description:
River Region Human Services, Inc. proposes to establish the North East Florida Prevention and Intervention Service Center to provide the counties of Duval Clay, St. Johns, Putnam, Nassau and Baker with prevention resources and services for mental health and substance abuse for youth and their parents/guardians. The funds requested will house offices, activity rooms, a library, counseling and testing facilities. Training for both parents and youth will be conducted. Interventions to deal with family issues relative to substance abuse and mental health that directly impact youth will be processed and services coordinated to relieve child pressure in addressing these issues. It is proposed that services be available six (6)days per week with varying hours conducive to parents schedules and child availability. These funds will pay for construction costs and furnish the equipment and furniture for initial operations. Additional funds to operate will be solicited from the Department of Children and Families and all other appropriate funding sources. Professional staff will be hired to man the proposed operation.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Annually 1500 youth will be serviced and 500-parents-guardians, teachers counselors and or significant others.
