Job Title

Session OPS - Senate Page Program Instructor

General Summary

The Office of the Secretary is accepting applications for OPS Page Program Instructors to assist with the Senate Page Program. This is full-time temporary employment for 12 weeks, including the legislative session (January 11, 2022, through March 11, 2022). Employment begins in December 2021 and ends March 18, 2022.

Examples of Work Performed

The Instructors are responsible for teaching a civics curriculum to high school students from throughout the State of Florida. Students serve for one week of the nine week session from 8:00am-5:00pm daily. 
 
Instructors are responsible for delivering civics-centered instructional materials that have been prepared by the Secretary; engaging the students in the bill drafting process; scheduling visits with Senators and other elected officials; and facilitating program activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants will hold a minimum of a high school diploma and have previous experience in a supervisory role with teenage children. A major in education studies and/or an active teaching certificate and/or a law enforcement background are a plus. Basic computer and office skills are required. A background check is required.

Salary

Hourly Rate of Pay

Commensurate with qualifications.
