Job Title

Assistant Graphics Coordinator (Office of the Clerk)

General Summary

Under the general supervision of the Graphics Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for creating graphics, layouts, and illustrations that include, but not limited to; welcome/event posters, newsletter headers/footers, brochures, booklet covers, logos, info-graphs, display panels, branding, and other design aspects of print and digital publications.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Design and prepare graphics for brochures, posters, info-graphics, book covers, book layout,      logo/branding, and arrange contents in the most effective manner for presentation.
  • Performs research work in securing factual information relating to the subject matter of assigned illustrations.
  • Confers with supervisor and/or coworkers regarding methods of design for various projects.
  • Plans, designs, and prepares graphics/illustrations using free hand and mechanical methods.
  • Performs the duties needed in printing and/or mounting to foam board as required.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with staff and coworkers to complete the task at hand.
  • Must have basic knowledge of print equipment, the operation, and the ongoing maintenance of said equipment.
  • Transform verbal information into artwork for presentation.
  • Perform other related duties and task as required.   
Must be willing and able to work some late nights, early mornings, and/or weekends based on the demands of the office.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of graphic design formats, techniques, and composition options.
  • Working knowledge of visual design theory.
  • Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to; Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office and Excel Data Merge
  • Working knowledge in basic 3D drawing and layout.
  • Skill in preparing a variety of graphic material in a timely manner.
  • Skill in producing accurate and detailed graphics from memory, photographs, or from drawings.
  • Ability to plan for, accept and organize work assignments given, and ensure proper completion.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to secure factual information and apply to the job at hand in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently but also work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Ability to train, supervise or manage others.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects on occasion. 

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in commercial/advertising art, studio or applied art, or visual communications, and one year of commercial art or illustrating experience with included management/supervisory experience in a Graphics environment.
A master’s degree in Graphic Design (or similar) from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Special Requirement

Must be willing and able to work some late nights, early mornings, and/or weekends based on the demands of the office.
