Information Systems Programmer/Analyst
IT Help Desk Technician
The Florida House of Representatives is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to serve in the House Office of Information Technology. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email. The successful candidate will work with the latest Microsoft tools in a forward-thinking environment.
Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers
Have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution.
Be customer-oriented and patient to deal with individual customers
The goal is to create value for users that will help preserve the House IT departments reputation
Walk the user through the problem –solving process
Provide accurate information on IT products and/or services
Record events and problems and their resolution in House IT’s tracking system
Follow-up and update customer status and information
Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
Lead or be part of a team to handle projects as needed by the Florida House of Representatives
Perform other related duties as required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography or engineering.
Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post-secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling four years.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role
Tech savvy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat and remote control
Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
Ability to analyze and interpret user requests
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to work on a team and work independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Hiring salary commensurate with experience range from $35,928 - $77,388
