This program addresses the need for housing and support services for homeless families by assisting them in securing permanent housing. The annual report from Florida Department of Children & Families reports there are at least 57,400 homeless people in Florida on any given day, which is up 9% from the 52,500 last year. 33% are families. District 15 reports over 2000 who are either homeless or living in over crowded conditions with other family members or friends. It is estimated that 46% are families. |

The Family Support Program for Homeless Families assists families with children under 18 years of age who are homeless move into permanent housing. The program provides a one-time housing-related payment to cover security deposit, first month's rent and necessary deposits for services and utilities up to $1500. We are requesting to serve 37 families next year. Our mission to eliminate homelessness will become rhetoric if we do not treat this devastating social issue. In addition to placing the homeless in housing we support their needs by providing services such as: clothing, food, job training, education, life skills classes, and information & referrals. To be eligible the family must be without housing, have a child under the age of 18 living in the household or expectinga child, and one member have a valid ID. |
