Project Description: |
The Village is seeking to expand treatment services for Hispanics who do not speak English. The current program, which is the only one of its kind in Miami-Dade County, has 10 beds, allowing us to treat approximately 40 clients in the course of a year, and we presently have a waiting list of 50-60 individuals who want to enter the program. Clients spend 3 months in the program, where they receive drug treatment, vocational training, life and social skills training, and English language instruction. The current program is a model program within the U.S. and its 85% completion rate is one of the highest completion rates in the State of Florida for substance abuse treatment programs. |
|
Is this a water project as described in Chapter 2002-291, Laws of Florida? |
No |
|
Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Of the Hispanic clients who complete treatment, 95% will decrease their past month drug use, 70% will find employment, 80% will decrease their criminal involvement, and 85% will improve their housing situation. Those who complete treatment will increase their family functioning, increase their English language skills, increase their vocational skills, decrease their sexual and drug taking risk behavior, increase their self-esteem, and decrease their mental health symptoms. |
