Project Description: |
Reduce the Number of crashes, injuries and deaths of Florida's teenage drivers. Reduce the demand for public services and social services created by automobile crashes and the drain on local and state tax dollars caused by preventable accidents. When teens apply for their permits, a special 4 hour classroom course,providing the new driver with a strong foundation and understanding of vehicle dynamics and human kinetics. The second segment is 8 hours of behind-the wheel instruction on a driving range. Training exercises used in this program have been adopted from the law enforcement training manual and approved by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Comm. Instruction is one on one. Instructors ride with each student and students move to the next exercise only after the instructor feels the student has demonstrated a reasonable degree of skill. The proper and safe way to drive defensivly. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Reduce the number of crashes, injuries and deaths of Florida's teanage drivers. Reduce the demand for public services and social services created by automobile crashes and the drain on local and state tax dollars caused by preventable crashes.Florida ranks 3rd nationally in the number of teens killed or injured on our highways. Achieve at lease 90% student satisfaction rating for course cirriculum and range instruction. During the first 12 months, will graduate a minimum of 4000 Florida Teens. At least 85% of the teen drivers completing this program will not be involved in automobile accident. At least 75% of the teen drivers will not receive a moving traffic violation during the following 12 months. |
