This project meets the objectives of the Florida Water Resources Act by promoting the conservation, development and proper utilization of surface and ground water to minimize degredation of water resources caused by the discharge of stormwater and to prevent the damage from floods, soil erosion and excessive drainage especially in South Florida where this stormwater drains to the environmentally sensitive Lake Worth Lagoon. |

Project Description: |
This project encompasses the sub-division of Briarwood which is suffering from dramatic flooding during storm conditions. The project consists of clearing and grading the affected area, demolishing the existing inlet, 275 linear feet of 24" CMP and 120 linear feet of 6" WM. Construction of 230 linear feet of 36" RCP, 4 Type "E" inlets, cut and plug 3-6" WM, construct 1 each of 6" tap sleeve and valve and GV w/ box, construct 30 linear feet of 6" WM (DIP) and 2 36" Flap Gates. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Reduce property loss and excessive damage to private homes, increase public safety during dangerous storm condidtions and improve water quality discharge as Haverhill is surrounded on three sides by canals leading into the C-51 which leads directly into the Lake Worth Lagoon. Local municipalities, Palm Beach County and the State of Florida have committed to cleaning up and restoring the Lagoon. |
