Project Description: |
To establish an indigent dental care programs for children and adults in Gadsden and Leon Counities in conjunction with dental providers such as Community College, Community Health Centers and the Public Dental Health Unit in the counties. Services include comprehensive and emergency dental care, including prevention, restoration, periodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics to both children and adults. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Benefits to State: Reduction of dental disease, which is one of the most prevelant chronic diseases. Financial savings to the state by reducing dental emergency room visists and reducing the cost of dental treatment through preventive services such as dental sealants. Reduction of pain and suffering due to untreated disease that lead to problems in eating, speaking and attention to learning. Enhancement of oral health as an integral part of general health; Measureable Outcomes: This is a collaborative partnership model between the College of Dentistry and the Department of Health to increase access to dental care for low income low access patients. The clinic expects to serve 2500 people in the first year. The contract expection is one dental visit per $100 in funding. |
