Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Using cameras and interconnected fiber optic communications, co-located police, fire and EMS dispatchers can improve response time, evacuation will be more orderly (if it becomes more necessary). Electronic signage will be used to direct traffic away from congestion in the event of an accident or peak traffic problems. The TMC will also provide FDOT a location to begin testing of the District VII Freeway Management System. Quicker clearance of traffic and restoration of optimal flow thereby reducing travel time and environmental impacts created by congestion. The TMC is designed to allow integration and incorporation of other systems at minimal costs and avoids duplication of efforts.
