Project Description: |
Funding is requested to continue the legislative commitment to expand programs and access through branch campuses. New money is needed to jumpstart high-demand programs that provide a skilled workforce and economic development for populations served by branch campuses. This alternative is cost-effective compared to establishing new SUS institutions. Priority programs include (1) expansion of health programs; (2) engineering and technology initiatives to expand graduate course offerings in wireless communications and certificate programs to meet local industry and business needs; (3) South Sarasota County initiatives to expand access to degree programs, student services, and scholarships to the growing student population in the southern portion of Sarasota County; (4) hotel and restaurant management initiatives to expand the existing program to service the indentified industry needs by providing a skilled workforce for a large regional industry sector; and (5) campus development initiatives to support quality and efficient services that increase the rate of learning and completion at all levels for students who enter post-secondary education. The program development and local initiatives funding would be recurring. |
