| Since the 1975 merger of the private New College with the State University System, the New College Foundation has been required to provide an annual contribution to the College's operating base budget. Since 1989, this contribution has totaled $720,050 annually. New College is the only member of the State University System saddled with such a requirement. Successful private fundraising for New College depends heavily upon assuring private donors that private funds are used strictly for enhancement purposes, above and beyond base operating needs that are typically funded by the State. This request seeks a recurring appropriation from the State, totaling $720,000 annually, to be added to the College's base operating budget for use in funding faculty salaries. In return, the New College Foundation will redirect its $720,000 to College enhancement initiatives above and beyond base operating needs. | |||||||||
