Project Description: |
The project is the Broward County Beach Erosion Control Project, a.k.a. The Broward County Shore Protection Project or the Broward County Beach Nourishment Project. This project will place approx. 2.5 cubic yards of sand on about 11.8 miles of beach. Also included is construction of a spur on the south jetty of Port Everglades and two t-head groins at the north end of John U. Lloyd Beach State Recreation Area. This funding request is a resubmittal of last year's request, which was appropriated by the Legislature and allocated to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). DEP reprogrammed the funds to other projects, because due to permitting delays, Broward County could not timely spend the funds this fiscal year. The County will, however, be in a position to spend the appropriation in the upcoming fiscal year. |
