Statewide Interest:
? Tourism - Tourism is a major basic industry for the State of Florida. Daniels Road / CR535 is the main road to the "back door" gate at Walt Disney World. Many of the employees of the theme parks utilize this route to get between home and work. By providing this improvement, we will insure adequate road capacity for many of the tourist related employees. ? SR50 - This new connection also will be the only north south connection between SR50 and the interchange with the new Western Beltway and CR535. This new road will alleviate some of the congestion from SR50.

Project Description:
Presently, Daniels Road Bridge is a two lane bridge that functions as one of Winter Garden's four crossings of the Florida Turnpike. At the present time, this bridge connects an improved with a four lane bridge with a concrete median and a pedestrian walkway on one side. The northern and southern sections of Daniels Road are currently being constructed as a four lane road (divided urban section) from SR50 south to SR429 (the Western Beltway). The proposed improvements for Daniels Road North will four-lane the existing segment from the Turnpike Bridge to SR50 (approximately 1,800 feet). The funding for the entire project (four laning of Daniels Road from SR50 to CR535 just north of the Western Beltway interchange) is a partnership of numerous different entities. The design and partial right of way acquisition for the southern section (from the Turnpike south to the Fowler property) has been paid for by a local developer. The missing portion of the right of way will be purchased by the City of Winter Garden. The Construction of the southern section as well as the North Section of Daniels Road will be the responsibility of Orange County. The City of Winter Garden is presently working with the Fowlers for contributions for their segment of Daniels Road. Because the widening of the Daniels Road Bridge of the Florida Turnpike will accommodate the future widening of the Turnpike, the City is also in negotiation with FDOT for their participation for participation. Presently, the Southern Segment is being constructed. Both the bridge and the north segment are being engineered and designed and right of way is being purchased. The City of Winter Garden is the overall project manager for these improvements. The City of Winter Garden's fiscal contribution will be $1.9 million for the bridge and the north segment.
