Project Description:
Purchase property for new bayside recreational facility.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Project will encourage and enable both Walton County citizens and tourists to enjoy Choctawhatchee Bay and its resources. The project will provide needed boat ramp access to the Bay, which offers abundant water-related recreation activities from Okaloosa to Bay County. The will be ample parking, picnic areas and restrooms. The facility will be be located adjacent to U.S. Highway 331, a major north/south artery connecting to south Walton County beaches. Purchasing the property for use as a park will protect its environmental quality and provide excellent educational opportunities, as well as enhancing awareness of the bay's resources.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Increased tourism and economic development opportunities, which could be measured by bed taxes, polling, increased participation in educational programs, use of boating facilities, etc.
