Project Description:
The project is to improve wastewater management practices for an island community known as Big Coppitt. Approximately 336 unknown on-site wastewater systems exist on the island, most are assumed to be cesspools.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The project will serve to improve surface waters of the State in an Area of Critical State Concern, defined as Outstanding Florida Waters, and included within the boundaries of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Measurable improvements in nutrients (Nitrogen/Phosphorous) and fecal contaiminants/pathogens.
