Project Description:

This project will create a partnership between Florida Atlantic University and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.  The partnership will allow the university use of the Performing Arts facility to teach credit and non-credit courses, including a Lifelong Learning series.  The series will provide senior citizens with stimulating lectures and discussions in a state of the art facility.  The series will include topics on the comic tradition in theatre, the joy of opera, successful investing, the history of Broadway music, and an overview of the American Presidency, among others.  In addition, various departments of Florida Atlantic University have expressed interest in utilizing the Broward Center for youth concerts, state and regional seminars, concerts, summer camps, and distinguished lecture series.  The use of the Broward Center will empower the university to vastly increase the opportunities available to its faculty and students even as it serves the Broward community.  The commitment to this project from the state request is $300,000 recurring for ten years.
