Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Countywide community-based organization providing education/recreation to disadvantaged minority youth.   Have served over 2400 members of the community (60%youth/40% adults) has necessitated need to expand facility and build an aquatic center

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

After school computer classes, tutoring, summer day camp, creative arts, daily living, recreation geared toward prevention of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, dropout, low grades, poor school attendance, self-esteem, positive self images to assist youth in becoming productive memebers of their community

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Increase in grades and school attendance, increased employment, decrease in youth crime, decrease in school drop out, decrease in drug abuse, decrease in teen pregnancy, resulting in a safer, more positive community environment
