Project Description:
Construct a 2500 sq ft Emergency Shelter facility to house abused, neglected, abandoned children ages newborn to six years of age who have been removed from their homes and court orderd placement
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Court ordered out-of-home placement for abused and abandoned children in C&F District VII (Orange, Brevard, Osceola and Seminole Counties). Licensed facility provides safe, therapuetic, homelike setting for children until they are placed in relative placement, foster care, or reunited with custodial parent(s). Will double the capacity of the existing facility (The Haven) from nine to eighteen children where emergency shelter is critically unavailable. The Haven for Children has been a model Emergency Shelter Child Placing Agency, contracted with the Department of Children and Families, since May 1987.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Double the capacity of the Haven for Children, Inc., an Emergency Shelter for abused and abandoned children ages 0-6 serving Orange, Brevard, Osceola and Seminole Counties, from nine to eighteen beds.
