Project Description:

This is an augmentation of the story of the Gemini mission and the start of the story of the Apollo mission at the Space Walk of Fame.  The Space Walk of Fame is an outdoor museum on the Indian River in historic downtown Titusville, overlooking the Kennedy Space Center where all U.S. manned space flights originated.

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

Apollo is on every list of the 100 most important events in the century, the millennium or the history of mankind.  Apollo is the most important happening in Florida's history.  The museum includes the handprints of the original Mercury astronaunts and will include ones of the Gemini and Apollo astronaunts.  Names of space industry workers will be recorded on the monument and in a computer database.  Important milestones in the history of rocketry are displayed at the site.  Informational programs to be displayed at computer kiosks are under development.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Tourists from all over the world are visiting the outdoor museum everyday.  More will come as the museum is expanded.  Thousands visit the stie to view shuttle launches in the historic context of the museum.
