One of the most popular attractions at the Betti Stradling Park in Coral Springs is the Slide and Glide playground, which is frequently used by residents with small children, schools, day care centers, summer camps and the after school program. A portion of the playground has been covered in pourer rubber to provide a safer environment, funded by a Waste Tire Grant and matching funds from the City. Approximately 1,000 square feet remain to be covered, for which this funding is sought. |

Once finished, the playground should be safer -- by reducing slips, softening falls and improving disabled (as defined in ADA) access -- as well as easier to maintain and more aestetically pleasing. The community will enjoy benefits such as improved access, safer surfaces and lower maintenance. |

The benefits will be measured by the visitors served, reduced injuries, maintenance cycle time and unit costs. Based on current use and popularity, the benefit is expected to be substantial. |
