Project Description:
"...to provide a state health insurance program for those people who are without health insurance so that they may have access to preventive and primary care services. ...the state program shall target the uninsured and not those who currently have private health insurance coverage." (408.90 F.S.)
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
"The state health insurance program shall offer basic, affordable health care services..." (408.90 F.S.) Those services in 408.904, F.S. would also be covered. The State benefits in that people will be able to access preventive and primary care services, as well as begin to budget health care insurance as a monthly expense. This will reduce the high cost treatment expenses paid when medical conditions are allowed to fester due to a lack of primary care.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Lower costs for acute care and a better quality of health for eligible Florida residents.
