Project Description:
Provide funding for State Kidney Disease Program the intent of which is to reimburse medical facilities for life-sustaining dialysis for patients not eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, and conduct statewide educational and employment couseling programs to help patients resume self-reliant, normal living.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The dialysis reimbursement component would cover services provided to approximately 250 indigent renal disease patients. The educational and employment components would be provided to the entire renal patient population in Florida, which is approximately 12,000 persons.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Reduce the hospitalizations of non-eligible Medicaid kidney disease patients, as well as offer support services for all kidney disease patients.
