Determination of nature, extent, and source of high nitrate levels in ground and surface waters in the Santa Fe River Basin. The results of this study will allow the multi-agency working group formed to deal with the problem to develop strategies to combat it. |

|
This study will benefit infants and the elderly who can become very ill if nitrate levels in water are too high. Also, surface waters and springs can become covered with aquatic plants if nitrate levels in water are high. This region's eco-tourism efforts are based on interest in the regions' springs. |
