Project Description:
The State of Florida doesn't have a statewide delivery network for educational television other than very expensive digital receivers and the state transponder. Presently, only 108 of over 3,000 schools K-12 in Florida have receivers to receive staff development and educational programs. PAEC proposes to manage and develop a statewide delivery system of small dishes (DBS) technology to reach every school in the state for less than $1 million. In 1995, these same sites cost was over $9 million. Improved technology and using the state transponder to get the signal to the small dish up-lin site, allows us to get equipment in every school for $150 per site. The only other cost would be committing the state transponder to feed the signal.
