Project Description:
The State of Florida, through a Florida Communities Trust grant, has acquired public land with structures that can be used for the nation's newest National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR). The structures, however, need renovation as offices for the NERR, as well as the educational and research facilities that are an integral part of the NERR. In addition to these renovation costs, this request includes the base equipment and supplies necessary to make the renovated offices and educational research facilities functional.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The enabling of actual implementation of the National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) for the Guana River, Tolomato River, and Matanzas River Estuaries.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
An increased understanding of estuarine systems, including public education, recreation, and scientific research.
